[ NAME: ]
Gekigami.
[ GENDER: ]
Male.
[ AGE: ]
god age: unknown.
human appearance age: 20 years old.
[ ALLIANCE: ]
He, unlike the rest of his clan, is sided with the sun.
[ MORTAL WORLD: ]
Though Gekigami tries his best to avoid trips to the mortal world, he visits every now and then to check out damage caused by stray arrows or to help Shiranui with something.
[ HEAVENS: ]
Gekigami prefers to spend his time in the heavens because he is not crowded by women that swoon over him or people that talk about him behind his back because his appearance or judge him because of his detached personality. And when he does spend time in the heavens, it is usually by himself.
[ MEETINGS WITH SHIRANUI: ]
Gekigami has met Shiranui once or twice when he became the lightning/thunder god because she needs his power in order to use the ability of lightning herself. The first time they met was when Gekigami first traveled to see Shiranui after word from his father about the deity and the second was after his clan was destroyed and he offered his loyalty to the sun goddess.
[ MORTAL APPEARANCE: ]
As a Tiger:
When it comes to wandering the mortal world as an animal, Gekigami takes the shape and form of a white tiger, with bold black stripes instead of red if he were in the heavens; also his tendrils that represent pure godliness are replaced with tufts of silky white fur. The tail of a brush god, meaning the black, lengthy tip is replaced with a blunt, round end which is still black, but is more of a stripe pattern and less of a paintbrush. He is noticeably larger than most white tigers of Nippon, but not by much; if one were to measure he would probably be four inches taller than the average male tiger.
His eyes are a piercing golden yellow, representing his shocking power, though he lacks the godly appearance around those that do not believe in the gods. His eyes are very bright and seem to glow in the dark with an eerie force. It is hard to understand what this tiger is feeling as his very eyes guards his emotions, even from other animals. His cold stare and intimidating stance often drive other animals away because he appears very tensed and if agitated, there will be an attack. But no matter how frightening Gekigami may appear, he is still a beautiful tiger.

His cold stare and intimidating stance often drive other animals away because he appears very tensed and if agitated, there will be an attack. But no matter how frightening Gekigami may appear, he is still a beautiful tiger.
As a Human:
If push came to shove, Gekigami could become a human in the mortal world; the beauty of his tiger form passes onto his human form as well but he loses most of his intimidation due to his clothing. If one were to classify this young man, they would say he is an aristocrat or an aspiring samurai that wields a light blue bow and golden arrows instead of a sword.
He wears the typical samurai wear, such as the extra large pants, which are pure white in color and fit him perfectly, yet he does not wear the tradition long sleeve shirt, but a thin, sleeveless black shirt that expresses how physically fit he is. He wears arm and shin guards that are white and lined with red and a long headband with red markings ( though he claims them as a representation of his godliness, but many non-believers shun the idea ) that keeps his long, spiky, white hair in place.
Gekigami is a very tall young man that seems frozen in time as he does not age physically. So he is still in his prime as a human, no matter what time he appears in. His voice remains the same; a deep, mysterious tone that causes shivers to travel down one's spine but leaves you aching to hear more. But just as he is in his animal form, Gekigami keeps others away by his cold appearance, whether it is his stare or unsatisfied head shake that makes others feel awkward in his presence.
[ ANIMAL FORM: ]
A mighty beast whose roar sounds like rolling thunder and reflexes that are agile and precise like the strike of lightning should represent the brush god of lightning and thunder; and that is what the tiger represents. Gekigami takes the shape of a mighty tiger that stalks the heavens with a sharp attitude that creates a wide girth and comfort zone for this solitary creature. He is the typical brush god, complete with tendrils, a brush like tail, and some sort of power. He uses his power by roaring, creating a mighty boom of thunder, while rapid fire of arrows create lightning that streaks through the sky on a stormy night.
He prefers to be seen in his animal form because many do not judge his appearance in this form and typically stay away if they do. Though it may be more difficult for this young god to shoot arrows from the bow perched upon his back, he practices when he can and when Shiranui allows in order to gain more control over what he does, avoiding accidents because of wild arrows. He is just as large as he is in the mortal world, except he has the appearance of a brush god, making him appear almost as majestically as Shiranui herself.
[ MARKINGS: ]
Gekigami has the typical markings of a normal brush god, whether he is in the heavens or is seen by mortals that believe in the gods or goddesses; also he has the tendrils that flow beautifully and define godliness.
[ OVERALL APPEARANCE: ]
In a nutshell, Gekigami is a handsome man and a beautiful tiger, whether he is in the mortal world or lounging around in the heavens. To those that believe or are gods/goddesses themselves, he has the majestic tendrils and markings of the legendary brush gods and controls lightning with a sharp shooting bow and arrow. When human, he has the air of an aristocrat and the skill of a samurai, though he does not flaunt his beauty or skill in any way.
[ PERSONALITY: ]
People and animals alike find it very difficult to understand Gekigami’s emotions because it appears that he is absent of them; his exterior appearance gives off that aura of a very bitter and detached person, but if someone even got to know Gekigami personally, they would know that he has a multitude of emotions that rarely ever show since he shut himself down after the slaughter of the Rai Clan. Once motivated or emotionally attached to someone, Gekigami can express himself freely around that person or persons; this makes him seem like a completely different person.
Gekigami is known to be very peaceful person, though it may not appear like it. When around others, he is very quiet, listening carefully to anyone that speaks, and never argues back with them because he likes to avoid trouble at all costs. He doesn’t believe in violence, but accepts the fact that it cannot be avoided at all times and must be initiated in order to keep the peace. Gekigami can also be described as calm because he thinks with a level head, never rushing into things without thinking all of the possibilities over. His voice is also a representation of his mellow nature, as it remains one gentle, soothing, and deep pitch that arouses all interest in others within earshot because with a voice like his, any story can be engaging.
There is one side that no one has seen in Gekigami, well, besides Shiranui, ever since the slaughter of his entire clan hundreds of years ago. The caring side. He can be very affectionate and caring to those that mean the most to him, as he will shed tears if they die or leave him behind. He protects what is his with a watchful eye and a few well placed arrows, as well as some sharp, piercing words that match his lightning personality. However, he doesn’t believe that he can love completely as his brother destroyed that ability long ago, but he can be close to someone, but not in a best friend way.
Because of his detached personality, it isn’t that hard to anger Gekigami, and if he does get angry, bad things will happen. He often loses control of his tongue and his sense of right and wrong, doing things that would cause him great remorse in the long run. However, he is learning how to control his temper problem and he believes the best way to avoid getting mad in the first place is to basically avoid the people that make you angry. On the short road to the loss of his cool demeanor, Gekigami retreats into silence with deadly glares, then bursts out with shouts and harsh words. It isn’t that hard to pin point this one emotion while the others are very elusive.
Lastly, it is hard to deny the fact that Gekigami is very sharp when it comes to being smart. He was down played for his intelligence in his clan that no one believed in his skills, yet he could solve problems that even his father couldn’t comprehend. Though he is very smart now, he still desires to learn and the only one that seems to hold answers that have yet to cross his mind yet is Shiranui. He tries his best to improve, dealing with problems that most people, gods, and animals would avoid, yet he takes them head on in order to be well prepared for the future.
[ HISTORY: ]
Gekigami has a violent history despite the fact that he is one of the brush gods, and most people expect that they just exist in harmony with one another to serve Shiranui. Well it wasn’t always that way, especially for the Rai Clan which controlled the power of lightning and the rolling of thunder from the heavens. Not everyone in the clan was blessed with this power though, only a select few were and they were considered the head of the clan. This was Gekigami’s family.
The Rai Clan is similar to that of the Oina Tribe today, as they had the power to shape-shift, and Gekigami is a testament to this ability. The Oina can be human one minute, wolf the next; well the Rai can be human one minute and tiger the next. Gekigami can pull off his transformation with absolute flawlessness, so it is hard to determine where just one tiger disappeared and a young man appeared from whence the tiger drifted off to. Also being a part of the Rai Clan allows Gekigami to control lightning in a unique way, unlike the other heads of the Clan did. However, that is enough of the brief overview; time to dive into the history of Gekigami.
Hundreds of years ago, the Rai Clan used to thrive on the Celestial Plain along with the other forms of life that thrived there. Everyone could set them apart because of their unique ability of shape-shifting and control of lightning and thunder, as well as their sharp personalities. Gekigami was born under the heads of the Clan, Masaru, his father and the leader, and Aiko, second in command and his mother. They both were masters of both shape-shifting and lightning control and placed their strong beliefs upon the clan. Many of these beliefs were aimed towards converting sun worshippers into moon followers because of how their powers were expressed. Thunder and lightning cannot exist while the sun was shining brightly, so they often wished for the sun’s downfall. Masaru often bad-mouthed the sun goddess and his mother just followed his word, often trying to influence their eldest son, Hotaru, as well as Gekigami into believing that the sun was bad. Hotaru was never resisted when the topic of good and evil was brought up, but Gekigami did and often he was punished for it.
Gekigami realized there was no point in trying to voice his opinion because no one would listen to him, nor was he expected to carry on the family name or support the clan when his father’s time came. He was often the butt of jokes because he was not as skilled as Hotaru when it came to utilizing lightning or just the fact that he looked like his mother, and much like a girl when he was only a few years old, but there was just one person that stuck beside him was his cousin, Setsuko. She believed in her younger cousin and helped him train in secrecy because they both believed that worshipping the moon would only lead to the downfall of the Rai Clan and if Masaru or Aiko, or even Masami found out, they would be expelled from the clan immediately.
“Setsuko… I’m tired of this… hiding, you know? I don’t want to follow my father’s path, or my brother’s! If this clan were under my control, we would be walking the path of righteousness.” Gekigami grumbled, one afternoon while sitting in his room, sharpening his bows with a small blade in the company of his cousin. “I know. I would rather have you lead the clan than anyone else. But what can you do? You were the second born…” Setsuko replied, leaning against the locked door, her eyes half closed from exhaustion. “I don’t know… kill my bro- Ow!” Gekigami began to say, but sliced his finger with the blade. Shaking his hand, splattering blood across the floor, he quickly stuck his thumb in his mouth, sucking on his finger to stem the flow. “Oh, Geki, you need to be careful. I told you to stop sharpening your bows yourself.” Setsuko cooed as she walked over then sat beside Gekigami, gently pulling his hand from his face. Gekigami’s face blushed with embarrassment as he watched her carefully. “Sorry… But no one else will do it for me. They say bows are for women… I should be wielding a sword like everyone else in the clan.” he said, watching his cousin rip the sleeve of her kimono, then wrapped the sliver of cloth around his finger as a makeshift bandage. “You’re fine the way you are, Geki. Don’t change. Meet me tonight for another practice run. I’ll help you with your aim. Your shots are a little off. Don’t forget your bows this time.” Setsuko teased, ruffling her cousin’s hair before slipping out to join the rest of the royal family. Gekigami made a face, then flopped down back onto his bed, not knowing that all of his secret meetings with Setsuko were being watched by an unlikely person.
Kiyoko often spied on Gekigami because she was very wary of her brother since he did not behave in the same way that the others of the Rai Clan did. And now she understood it all. It was anarchy; Gekigami was trying to work for the sun goddess, the one deity that ruined their parade when it came to expressing their powers. Kiyoko ran off to find Hotaru, to tell him about what she just heard. This would be the news that tore apart the Rai Clan.
Hotaru and Gekigami were not brothers that had a stable relationship, they often got into fights that ended in blows, Gekigami often limping away as the loser because he was not as strong or as skilled as his older brother. His father favored Hotaru over Gekigami because he was the manlier son and he could relate to him, as well as pass on his beliefs about how the Clan should be run and what values should be prized. Hotaru soaked up everything and became as bitter and as spiteful as his father was towards Shiranui. Gekigami did not want to understand why they could not live in peace with the sun goddess and help her out, but did not want to voice these thoughts aloud. He wanted to see for himself whether or not the sun goddess was as bad as his father made her out to be. So one night…
“I’m going to see Shiranui, Setsuko. I want to see why this goddess is so bad to us. It just doesn’t make any sense nor does it feel right.” Gekigami explained to his cousin one night. “I understand… But please make sure you come back in one piece, Geki. It’s dangerous out there. Remember what I taught you., hold your bow steady and never take your eye off the target.” Setsuko said, patting Gekigami on the shoulder, glancing into his quiver, seeing all of the sharpened golden arrows glitter beautifully in the moonlight. “Yeah. I know. My aim has improved because of you. I guess without you I kinda wouldn’t be as good as I am today.” Gekigami said with a soft chuckle. “Hehe, nor as confident, little cousin. Just hurry back. Try not to get here too late or else your father will know.” Setsuko whispered before hugging her little cousin, then watched him embark on his journey to meet the sun goddess.
His little journey lead him onto the path of true enlightenment, finally experiencing the presence of the sun goddess herself, and he realized what he had to do to free his family and clan from a life of misunderstanding. But… this one night trip soon turned into something longer. It had been ten years since he first declared his journey, when he was only ten years old, and now, he was twenty, old enough to start a clan of his own, yet he decided to return to his past where things had taken the turn for the worst.
Hotaru was now the leader of the clan, their father dead by his own hand, and everyone else was practically enslaved by his brother’s cruel words. Those that refused to believe in what he had to say were cruelly slaughtered before everyone, and Gekigami came back in time to witness Setsuko’s execution.
“I will never believe that you are the rightful leader of the Rai Clan! Not while Geki’s still out there, somewhere, becoming a better man than you’ll ever be!” Setsuko shouted, trying to free herself from the chains that bound her on either side by her hands. Hotaru stood before Setsuko with a grin, an electrified sword in his hand. “You still believe in that? You still think that little Gekigami is still alive? What would that pitiful loser do to me?” he laughed, running the thin tip across his cousin’s neck. Hiding amongst the crowd, Gekigami watched, his anger growing, rising when he saw that no one was helping or even resisting what his brother had to say. “You’re such a snake.” Setsuko hissed, her teeth bared at her cousin. “Silence you wretch!” Hotaru growled, slashing at her throat with the blade and instantly she crumpled to her knees, then upon the floor. Gekigami growled, tears streaming down his face, the crowd turning to face him. “How could you do that to your own kin!?” he shouted, quickly drawing a bow from his quiver and stringing it on the bow with ease and speed any archer would be envious of. “Oh, so you’re back little brother. What are you going to do? Take this away from me? You’ve been gone for so long that your mind has drifted towards the sun! Have you not realized that they enslaved us?” Hotaru claimed, standing before the awestruck crowd, watching the two brothers fight. “No. All I can see is that you have enslaved our people. They are no longer free and no longer have a will to be what or who they want to be. I’m tired of you and father trying to decide everything for us. I will free everyone.” Gekigami snarled, one eye shut as he steadied his bow.
Hotaru just laughed at his little brother, slowly approaching him, unafraid of the waiting arrow that glistened with electricity. “What are you talking about? You have no one to free!” Hotaru yelled, a flash of light and the sound of a mighty tiger’s roar ripped through the air. Gekigami had to turn away, dropping his guard to save his eye sight. He heard the painful groans and mournful cries of everyone around him, the young, the old… everyone. Gekigami could feel himself tremble with rage and sadness, the tears quickly flowing down his hot cheeks. “How could you do this!? This was our family! Our Clan, our life!” Gekigami shouted at Hotaru, who was now a large tiger, slowly stalking its prey. Gekigami struggled to get a hold of himself, steadying his bow but his body felt weak after the attack that only high ranked Rai Clanners knew. The Sphere of Lightning practically blinded all those in close vicinity, and caused instant death to those unskilled of lightning practices. It was a forbidden technique and he couldn’t understand why his brother needed to know it at all. “Tch, why have family when you can have power? You’ll be reconsidering this once you watch how easily I dispose of that sun goddess you wish to protect!” Hotaru growled before leaping at Gekigami.
He felt his fingers release and the bow take flight….
Gekigami squeezed his eyes shut, feeling the heavy weight of his brother hit him, but it was still and lifeless. In his haste, fear, and frustration, Gekigami kicked the lifeless body of Hotaru off of him, scrambling backwards in a crab like walk. Did he just do that? Did he just kill the last of his Clan? He felt his heart race, he felt it ache, he felt it burn with remorse and confusion. The young man just sat there for a while, just crying his heart out over those that lost their lives due to the cruelty of his brother. If only he had returned sooner… Maybe he could’ve made a change in the way the Rai Clan lived.
But now… he was the last one.
Gekigami couldn’t be alone, he couldn’t trust himself. So he fled the scene, leaving behind his past, and shutting himself up into a tight nutshell while finding comfort in Shiranui’s presence. He offered his loyalty to her, granting her the power of his clan’s lightning technique in return for the company. From that point on, Gekigami’s mind has never strayed back to that fateful day, as he locked it away in the darkest reaches of his heart while he focuses on homing his skills as a brush god as well as supporting Shiranui, something his clan would not approve of if they still were around.
